Exploring Sorsogon

On  May 2-3, 2014, we visited one of the most beautiful destination in Bicol, Sorsogon!

Sorsogon, at the southeastern part of the Bicol Peninsula, is bounded on the north by the province of Albay, on the east by the Philippine Sea, on the south by the San Bernardino Strait, and on the west and northwest by the Ticao and Burias Passes.
Except for its overland link with the province of Albay to the north, it is completely surrounded by water.
It is characterized by an irregular topography, and, except for landlocked Irosin, all the towns lie along the coast. They are all connected by concrete and asphalt roads. Mountains sprawl over the northeast, southeast and west portions.
Sorsogon is the gateway of Luzon to the Visayas and Mindanao through its Roll-on/Roll-off ferry terminal facilities located in the municipalities of Matnog, Pilar and Bulan.

Say hello to our first destination, the Mangrove Forest!
We took our lunch as we headed to enjoy the happiest exploration at the mangrove forest!

Here are the pictures of the Mangrove Forest

The mangrove forest was so wide!

We were accompanied by local boatriders, in uniform. :)
Of course we get to plant magrove trees as we enjoyed the beautiful view of the sea, the blue sky and the mangroves..

Our next destination was the Bulusan Lake!

Bulusan Lake is a lake on Luzon Island in the Philippines. It lies at the heart of Bulusan Volcano National Park which covers a land area of 3,672 hectares. It has an elevation of 360 meters and is located on the southeast flank of Mount Bulusan, an active volcano.
The lake is accessible either through the Maharlika Highway up to the town of Irosin passing through the towns of Casiguran and Juban. From Irosin it is another ten kilometers to the site. The other is passing through a very scenic route overlooking the Pacific Ocean (San Bernardino Strait) through the towns of Gubat, Barcelona and the center of Bulusan town.
Bulusan Lake is formed by tectonic damming and perhaps another crater of a volcano. Its water is greenish and its waterbed is rocky and sandy and parts are muddy.

It is home to some endemic species of freshwater fish. It also supports some birds, mammals and some beehives. It is completely surrounded by tropical rainforest.

We also visited some of the heritage churches

 And the famous Mt. Bulusan

Mt. Bulusan, the tallest peak, rises 1,560 meters above sea level.

summer vacation 2014

It was a yearly summer visit in Manila where I spent a seemingly fun vacation. Included in my itinerary were visits in some never been-to places hehe. This year, we spent some days visiting malls in Makati. One stop was in Greenhills. I enjoyed the place especially the boutique section. There were lots of fashion finds at affordable prices. We also enjoyed the place because It was classy and very cozy. Not to mention the several encounters with some showbiz personalities hahahaha :)

2nd day was spent at Mall of Asia and the favorite past time of aunt and tito, bowling! We did some shopping and tried the videoke booth and enjoyed singing with my cousins..

Because it's summer, We also went to Bato Springs Resort in San Pablo, Laguna. All the fun because it super summer!!

The place was really good!!

It was indeed a wonderful vacation!

Visiting my mom's homeland-Burias Island

Our yearly visit at Burias Island has always been exciting. When I was a kid, we used to visit during December and summer. As times demanded work etc, we visited very often, sometimes once a year. It's always a family reunion along wioth island hopping.

The boat left at 7:00 in the morning from Pasacao Port. And since it's summer, the weather was just perfect! No tide and the sea was calm. Upon riding, you could view the Daruanak Islet(seen in the picture below)
My first snapshot with my bro and cousin, with the majestic Daruanak Islet!

The ride rans for 2 hours and a half.
Along the middle of our ride, we saw what we have been waiting to see! Dolphins!! Sorry the pics not so clear because i was so excited to see them! Dolphins soo cute! They are in a group and passed by our boat for just a minute or so. It was fun! We were all amazed..

After 2 hour trip, we touchdown Burias Island. The gates of scenic mountains welcomes us, as well as the hospitality of my Asuncion Family.
In this pic are my niece/s..

Here's my aunt dolly, my favorite aunt. I am her favorite too haha..
This is her store and hollow blocks business.
It was a beautiful afternoon of fun when the kids danced in the tune of, the famous Gangnam style. Haha..

Of course, as foodie as we all are in an island. We enjoy "nilubak" or steamed banana, ewan ko kung tama bang steamed yan hahaha

This was our baon before going to a beach trip..

One important thing of our visit is to spend time with my "duday", my grandmother..
She's 80 yr old but she still the most sweet and loving lola ever. Super madaldal haha..
Mom's home is always the best.
Look at this wooden interior, ang ganda noh?

And here we go beach! Papicture muna sa vacation house. This is where we stayed for a day to enjoy the beach. The house interior was perfect!

Good times...
In Bahamas? haha the beach was simply the best.

nevermind my legs, lol
Just the fun and bonding of a family. My bro and dad's usual bonding is playing chess.. even at home, they enjoyed the tease and laughs..

and more tease and kulitan...

And the fun fun and funniest bonding with my ever loving family!!!
extremely wonderful visit!!
